Add a New Page
To add a new page, first click on the My Apps button in the bottom left corner of the screen, and select View Pages from the Pages heading. Once at the View Pages screen, click the Add a New Page button in the top right of the screen.
Here the user is able to set the page properties. The Descriptive Name is used as the page name in the View by Title Listing under Pages. This is not visible anywhere on your publicly-accessible website. The Page Title is used by the web browser and is displayed in the title bar at the top of the page while browsing or as the name of a tab, (if you are using tabbed browsing).
Directly below comes the Page Address setting. This is very important as this is what gets typed into the address bar in a web browser. The first part of this step is determining if the page is a main page or a sub page. There are essentially three types of pages:
- The index page- there is only one of these for a website, the Homepage.
- A main page- which is "under" the index page. There can be a number of these and it can considered as "Level 1" of a domain's structure.
- A sub-page- which is under a main page or another sub-page. Again, there can be any number of sub-pages, and depending on how they are integrated into a website, they could be thought of as "Level 2" or higher.
If you have a small website, your pages will typically be main pages. If it is necessary to add the new page underneath an existing page, simply click the Change link to produce a drop down bar used to select a new parent page. Below this is a preview of what the full URL will be for the new page.
The last feature on this step is to select the Template from the dropdown bar. This will contain any template that has been created, for more information on this, refer to the Template page.
Your page is now created. Follow the directions for editing a page to add content or make any other additional changes.
