Setting Up Apps in Aptuitiv Studio
For a more impressive web presence you can add functionality to your website with Aptuitiv Studio's various Apps. These Apps consist of a blog, gallery, collections, directory, forum, among many others.
Even though there are many different Apps provided, every App has a few common components: Attributes, Layouts, and Settings. Below is a truncated view of the Apps Navigation Menu, where you can see these three constants on the right, and the App-specific components on the left (in this case, we are using the Blog so Posts, Categories, and Comments are available).

We recommend setting up your Blog in the following order:
- Attributes
- Content Templates
- Layouts
- Settings
- Create content
Below is more information for each step.
Attributes
The Attributes tab is where you would go to create the fields available when adding a new post, in the example of using the Blog. There are different components that together complete a given App. Again, using Blog, we see that Post and Category form the Blog App.
Post and Category have default lists of Attributes that should cover most all cases, but you can always add more Attributes as you see fit. In the example to the right, Post Attributes, you see the default Post Abstract, Post Content, Post Title, and Category. This satisfies most of our new Blog, however, it also requires an author picture. You can see this was added to the top of the list by simply clicking the New Post Attribute button and selecting Image Upload from the Attributes select menu.
You probably noticed that Post Attributes is accompanied by Post Attributes Groups, and Category Attributes with Category Attributes Groups. These groups will collect the specified Attributes together. The result of this grouping comes in the form of tabs when adding a new App item, such as a new post. Attribute Groups also have a default list which can be added to as needed.
Content Templates
Content Templates can be found under the Layouts tab.
Simply put, the Content Templates is where you go to add the HTML and logic used to display a single Content Block for a Blog page.
For an example of a Content Template, click here.
Layouts
Now that you have the Content Templates set you can setup the Layouts to pull everything together to output the final Blog page.
Below is a diagram that shows how Templates, Layouts and Content Templates work together to display a page.

Settings
The final step in setting up your App is determining which pages use what layout. Under Settings you can setup each type of page within the Blog.
Create Content
Now that the Blog is fully setup, you can now easily add posts and content to populate your Blog.
Again, the example of the Blog used through this guide can be generalized for the other Apps in Aptuitiv Studio. Just as Blog contained Posts, Calendar will have Events, Directory will have Profiles, etc.
